We are delighted to announce the completion of the urgently needed school extension for the village of Fokpo. After an intensive construction phase and final inspection by the Togolese Ministry of Education, we are proud to be able to open the doors to 32 children from the surrounding area. These children now have a safe and dry place to learn, which is a significant step forward for the community.
Historical background and building decision
The new school was built next to the old school, which was established back in 1975. Over the years, the old building had suffered greatly and had finally fallen into disrepair. The outdated building fabric and inadequate learning conditions made it clear that a new building was essential. After extensive consultation and various considerations, the village community decided to construct the new building directly next to the old school building. This decision allowed the old school to be used continuously during the construction phase and made the transition easier for the pupils.
Inauguration ceremony and cultural significance
At the end of April, the time had finally come. Together with our Ecocent Togo team and some employees of natureOffice and Certania from Germany, we celebrated the inauguration of the new classroom. The festivities were celebrated with a large, typical Togolese party, during which the community expressed their joy and gratitude. Such cultural celebrations not only strengthen the sense of community, but also underline the importance of education for the local population.
Importance of the elementary school in Fokpo
Fokpo Primary School plays a central role in the education of children in the region. At natureOffice, we firmly believe that education is the key to a better future. The new learning conditions open up a wide range of opportunities for the pupils. Who can predict what great potential lies dormant in these young people? Perhaps one of these children will be the next president or a Nobel Prize winner. With the new school, they now have the best possible environment to develop their skills and realize their dreams.
Thanks to the supporters
Our sincere thanks go to Dauphin HumanDesign® Group GmbH & Co. KG, who provided the school with chairs and tables for the children and additional furnishings. Their commitment and financial support were crucial to the success of this project. We would also like to thank the international freight forwarder Gebrüder Weiss, who generously sponsored several tricycles for transportation purposes for our PROJECT TOGO project. These tricycles not only facilitate school operations, but also contribute to general logistics in the community.
