Climate communication with impact: the natureOffice label takes a stand

Climate communication is becoming increasingly important for companies - especially in view of the growing demands for transparency and traceability. This is precisely where the natureOffice label comes in: It stands for honest and verified CO₂ balancing as well as credible CO₂ offsetting through certified climate protection projects. From 2026: New rules for climate communication and environmental advertising

Stricter rules for sustainability communication will apply from 2026. The Green Deal, the Green Claims Directive and the Empowering Consumers Directive provide clear guidelines:

  • "Climate neutral" for products? No longer allowed! If CO₂ offsetting takes place outside the company's own value chain, it may no longer be advertised as such.
  • Sustainability promises must be verifiable. Companies must be able to prove what they say.
  • No more vague or misleading statements! Anyone who advertises in a climate-friendly way must be able to prove it - otherwise there will be consequences.

These changes protect consumers from greenwashing and ensure greater transparency in climate communication.

Companies and consumers have a right to clarity

Companies still have the right to offer their customers more environmentally friendly alternatives - and thus set themselves apart from the competition. The only important thing is that the benefits must be clearly documented and communicated in a comprehensible manner.

Consumers also have the right to make a conscious decision in favor of more sustainable products - on the basis of honest and verified information. Real alternatives need real transparency.

Anyone following the latest court rulings and guidelines will quickly realize that unclear or unverifiable "green" advertising promises are a thing of the past. This is exactly where the natureOffice labels come in. They deliberately avoid vague terms and instead focus on the facts:

Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) - the label for corporate footprints

The CCF label provides a detailed analysis of a company's CO₂ emissions and includes

  • Overview of the Scopes 1-3 taken into account .
  • All company emissions in the calculated period.
  • Confirmation of CO₂ offsetting through climate protection projects.
  • Transparency if not all emissions have been offset.
  • A tracking URL to track the carbon footprint online.
  • Balanced period according to the GHG protocol.
  • Details of the climate protection projects used.
  • Development of emission values compared to the base year.

Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) - The label for products

The PCF label focuses on the emissions of an individual product:

  • All relevant data on the CO₂ balance of the product.
  • Calculated emissions per product.
  • QR code that provides further details, e.g. on CO₂ offsetting through climate protection projects.

The PCF label can not only strengthen your own sustainability communication, but can also be a service for your customers. It can be a real added value, especially for service providers such as print shops or event agencies: they enable their customers to precisely calculate and transparently report the CO₂ emissions of their products or services.
