natureOffice makes pharmacies fit for the future

At expopharm 2025, together with ten strong partners, we will be showing how environmental protection works in everyday pharmacy life. And why it also pays off economically.
The healthcare system has a CO₂ problem. The German healthcare system is responsible for around 6% of global emissions, 60% of which are caused by medicines. At the same time, the WHO calls the climate crisis the biggest health crisis of our time. Paradoxical? We think so too. That's why we're doing something about it.
expopharm is going green
expopharm is Europe's largest trade fair for the pharmacy industry. Every year, pharmacists, PTAs and other healthcare professionals meet here to find out about innovations and trends. In 2025, the trade fair will take place in Düsseldorf from September 16 to 18. And for the first time, there will be a stand dedicated entirely to the topic of sustainability: the "Pharmacy of the Future". An innovative stand concept that shows how resource efficiency and climate protection work in everyday pharmacy life.
Who is behind it?
The whole thing was initiated by Pharmacists for Future. This is an initiative of the Association of Democratic Pharmacists, which works on a voluntary basis for more sustainability in pharmacy. Its aim is to train pharmaceutical staff and implement environmentally friendly measures in pharmacies. The idea was born at expopharm 2024, when environmentally friendly companies met with great interest in the Newcomer Area. "It was already clear during the trade fair that we would implement our innovative stand concept," says the project team. At the beginning of 2025, the concept won over the congress organizer AVOXA.
10 partners, one vision
Together with Pharmacists for Future, ten other partners will be presenting their solutions for sustainable pharmacy practice. From environmentally friendly products and innovative packaging to advice concepts for a more conscious use of medicines. natureOffice is one of these partners. Our contribution: providing CO₂ balancing, emissions reduction and offsetting for pharmacies and offering advice.
What we do for pharmacies
You know your pharmacy, that's enough. We calculate where the emissions come from: from lighting and air conditioning to the entire supply chain. Then we look together to see where the most savings can be made. And we offset the rest sensibly via certified climate protection projects.
Our job: to ask you the right questions. Your job: to answer them honestly. We do the rest.
The great thing about it: a resource-efficient pharmacy not only saves CO₂, but often also money. Less energy consumption, optimized delivery routes, conscious use of resources. It pays off faster than you think.
More than just a green conscience
"A resource-efficient pharmacy saves money and resources and is attractive for both patients and employees," explains the Pharmacists for Future project team. Transparency and security in the selection of environmentally friendly services are becoming increasingly important criteria for the trust of pharmacists and their customers.
You take the first step, we do the rest. Our advice is as practical as your work. No theoretical battles, but concrete solutions that work in everyday pharmacy life. We sometimes surprise ourselves at how easy it can be.
Training included
The joint stand offers more than just product presentations. In the specially equipped "Green Future Pharmacy" break room, visitors can relax and at the same time gather concrete ideas for implementing resource-efficient measures in presentations and panel discussions. Pharmaceutical staff play a key role in advising the public on the health consequences of the climate crisis and the environmentally friendly use of medicines. Training is therefore an important component of the concept.
