Forest ecology in Germany
Local measures for global impact: join us in promoting forest ecology in Germany.
If your heart beats for climate protection and you want to offset more than just CO2, we have the right solution:

For every tonne of CO2 offset, an additional contribution is made to forest ecology projects directly in Germany. We are currently supporting a solar climate protection project in India by offsetting CO2. In this way, we combine international and national climate protection and create real added value locally.

Together with local forestry authorities, we implement a wide range of initiatives to promote German forest ecology. Our projects create sustainable forests that not only contribute to carbon sequestration, but also provide valuable habitats for numerous animal and plant species. With targeted reforestation measures, the maintenance of existing forest areas and the promotion of biodiversity, we are helping to preserve and strengthen the natural beauty and ecological importance of German forests. Together, we can achieve great things - for the environment, our future and our home. Let's actively shape change and leave a positive footprint. Support us in protecting and promoting Germany's forests. Now is the time to act!

The Project "DeutschlandPlus" combined certificate offsets CO2 and strengthens local forests
With the Kombi-Certifikate DeutschlandPlus you can combine global climate protection with local environmental initiatives. We ensure that your carbon offsetting effectively supports international projects that meet strict VCS or Gold Standard guidelines, but that's not all: every ton of carbon offsetting also contributes to forest ecology projects in Germany.

Your investment is distributed fairly to the regions you support. With each certificate you purchase, you also receive detailed information on the German forest projects supported - a valuable tool for your climate communication.

Our mission 2024
1

Black Forest: Pioneering work for biodiversity

  • In a 15-hectare oasis in the Black Forest, our forest pasture project builds a bridge between dense forest and open pasture. The aim is to promote the diversity of light-requiring species that are currently suffering from the sharp boundary between these two worlds. Through targeted clearing and protective measures, we strengthen the native flora and fauna and contribute to a robust ecological balance. This project, supported by nature conservation and forestry authorities, sets new standards for nature-friendly land use.
2

Thuringian Forest: Diverse forests against pests

  • The Thuringian Forest is experiencing a serious loss of spruce trees due to the bark beetle. Our reforestation tactics focus on diversity: through wildlife protection fences and the planting of different tree species. In this way, we create a resilient forest that provides essential services for climate, water, soil and recreation and is also prepared for future climatic changes.
3

Ahrtal: Shaping the future with biodiversity and resilience

  • In the Ahr Valley, we are focusing on concrete nature conservation with the Deutschland Plus programme: through clearing, renaturation and the creation of biotopes. These measures not only ensure the preservation of rare species, but also the resilience of our natural areas to climate change. We offer native flora and fauna a vital space in which they can develop and thrive.
With a donation or by becoming a forest sponsor.
Forest donation Would you like to make a regional commitment to the preservation and protection of our forests, independent of greenhouse gas offsetting? We offer you the opportunity to make a regional commitment with a forest donation. All you have to do is choose one or more regions that you would like to support. Your donation goes 1:1 to the regional forestry offices with which we work.

What we offer you:
donation receipt, certificate, general pictures and project information from the region
Forest sponsor
Sponsor your own forest ecology project. Together with the regional forestry offices, we will find the right project for you and your company. This does not necessarily have to be a tree planting programme. The creation of a biotope or a forest edge design are also important measures for the maintenance and preservation of the forest. Accompany the project personally during implementation or plan a sustainable, memorable customer or employee event.

We offer you:
donation receipt, certificate, project information on your "own" project (text & image). If you wish, you can be involved in the realisation of the campaign. Of course, we will accompany you and provide you with film, photo and text material for your sustainability communication afterwards.
FOREST PROTECTION IN ACTION

Together for Germany's forests

Our measures provide direct support for effective forest conservation projects! We have been working directly with regional forestry offices for several years and support projects throughout Germany. We have already been able to achieve this together with our customers:

Taunus

The Wiesbaden-Chausseehaus forestry office manages around 13,000 hectares of forest in Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, including state and municipal forests, with a team of 30 employees. Its tasks include the promotion of nature conservation and environmental protection, the planting of climate-tolerant forest plants, reforestation with mixed forest and targeted measures to protect species such as the Aesculapian snake and the honey buzzard.

Sauerland /Werdohl

The Sauerland region, particularly the Werdohl municipal forest and the Arnsberg forest, was severely damaged by the storm “Kyrill” and subsequent bark beetle infestation, resulting in the destruction of many forest areas. A near-natural, climate-adapted mixed forest is now being created on the cleared areas through group planting of native deciduous trees and targeted forest management.

Alps

In the Alps project area, the focus is on establishing mixed mountain forest by planting rotten trees on clear-cut areas and on the important restoration of protection forests to fulfill functions such as soil erosion protection and avalanche protection. Other work includes young thinning, planting native trees, bark beetle control, biotope management and the construction of raised hides

Black Forest

Our 15-hectare forest pasture project in the Black Forest creates a link between dense forest and open pasture to promote the diversity of light-requiring species. Through targeted clearing and protective measures, we strengthen the native flora and fauna, supported by nature conservation and forestry authorities, and set new standards for nature-friendly land use.

Hunsrück

The main task in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park is to rewet the low mountain slope moors in Morbach in order to restore these species-rich moors and moorland forests to their natural state in the long term and restore their function as water and carbon reservoirs. Other measures include the obstruction of drainage ditches, the conversion of pure spruce stands into near-natural mixed forests, the removal of roads and the improvement of water flow in ditches and ditches.

Rhön

The Rhön, a low mountain range at the interface between Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia, is a diverse cultural landscape with beech forests, farmland and species-rich meadows, which was recognized by UNESCO as a biosphere reserve in 1991. In the Bavarian Rhön, the spread of lupine is monitored and limited in order to preserve protected animal and plant species; other measures include black grouse biotope management, moorland rewetting, forest conversion and landscape conservation.

Diepholzer Moorniederung

The Diepholzer Moorniederung, one of the best-preserved and renaturalized raised bog landscapes in Lower Saxony, has been protected and developed by BUND Diepholzer Moorniederung (BUND DHM) since the 1980s, and from 2018 also as an ecological station. The team, consisting of 16 specialists, works on the renaturation and maintenance of raised bogs, wet meadows and sand heaths on 170 km², with measures such as the rewetting of the moors contributing to the promotion of biodiversity and climate protection.

Wadden Sea

The Wadden Sea, one of the most valuable natural areas in Central Europe, has been protected since 1962 by the Wadden Sea Protection Station, which played a key role in its recognition as a national park and World Heritage Site. Despite the high level of protection, the pressure to use the area is high, which is why the protection station, with around 30 permanent employees and 100 volunteers, promotes a nature-friendly approach to fishing, tourism and climate protection projects every year and raises awareness among around 350,000 people for the protection of the Wadden Sea.

Ahr valley

In the Ahr Valley, the Deutschland Plus program promotes concrete nature conservation through de-cussing, renaturation and biotope creation, which ensures both the preservation of rare species and the resilience of natural areas to climate change. These measures create a vital habitat in which native flora and fauna can develop and thrive.

Thuringian Forest

The Thuringian forest suffers greatly from the loss of spruce trees due to bark beetle infestation. Our reforestation strategy promotes diversity through wildlife fencing and the planting of different tree species to create a resilient forest that supports climate, water, soil and recreation and is prepared for future climatic changes.
Our definition of forest ecology projects

By forest ecology projects, we mean not only the planting of trees, but also measures such as the creation and maintenance of biotopes, the creation of forest edges, protection against browsing and much more. When selecting projects, we make sure that they offer real added value and are not or could not already be financed elsewhere. This results in genuine additionality. We also organise the projects exclusively in public spaces.
1

Climate resilience

  • Adapting our forests to climate change is essential to strengthen them against extreme weather and pests.
2

Biodiversity

  • Targeted forest management preserves and increases the diversity of our native flora and fauna.
3

Sustainable forestry

  • We ensure the availability of wood as a renewable resource through responsible forest reorganisation.
4

Nature-based water protection

  • Forests are vital for filtering and storing water, thus protecting our water quality.
5

Natural oases

  • Our forests offer irreplaceable retreats for leisure and recreation.
6

Cultural heritage

  • Forests characterise our cultural identity and preserve living traditions.
7

Ecological lungs

  • Forests are indispensable suppliers of oxygen and support the global climate system.
