METHODOLOGY & STANDARDS

A result does not become robust simply by citing a standard.

A result does not become robust simply by citing a standard.

GHG Protocol, ISO, VSME, ESRS, SBTi, EcoVadis or a customer questionnaire: many frameworks provide guidance. However, they do not automatically answer the practical questions within a company.

Which framework is appropriate? Which assumptions are viable? And how do results remain comprehensible?

Together with you, we select the appropriate methodology and document it in such a way that calculations, reports and targets remain compatible.

Discuss Methodology & Standards

YOUR ORDER

Your Order

Your Order

You commission us to define a suitable methodical framework for your specific task and to document it in a comprehensible manner. In this way, we do not create rules on paper, but a foundation with which teams, data and subsequent decisions can work together.

It is not a matter of applying as many standards as possible at the same time. It is about choosing the framework that fits your occasion.

A balance sheet, report or climate target is set up properly for the first time

Several standards or customer requirements are present at the same time

An existing method should remain consistent across years, products, or locations

WHAT WE DO FOR YOU

What we do for you

What we do for you

01

Classifying the occasion and requirements

We clarify what the result is needed for: a customer enquiry, a report, a balance sheet, a climate target, or a recurring process.

02

Select a matching frame

We assess which standards, guidelines, or criteria are suitable for the task and what currently does not provide any additional added value.

03

Define boundaries and assumptions

We define the accounting object, reference value, period, system boundaries, data requirements, estimates and exclusions.

04

Make data requirements realistic

We clarify which sources are required, which quality requirements apply, and how open points are dealt with.

05

Ensure comparability and continuation

We determine how the methodological status, database, and significant changes are documented and classified in the future.

OUR APPROACH

This is how we proceed

This is how we proceed

Understand the occasion and goal

We clarify which decision, requirement, or communication needs to be prepared and who will work with the result.

View existing principles

We consider relevant calculations, reports, data, customer requirements or internal specifications.

Justify the methodological framework

We propose a suitable approach and agree on which standards, guidelines and requirements will be applied.

Document definitions

You will receive comprehensible rules for boundaries, data sources, assumptions, exclusions, and subsequent updates.

WHAT YOU GET

What you get

What you get

Comprehensible documentation of the agreed lifecycle assessment – as the basis for a concrete decision.

— Formulation of the question and intended use

— Reference base, period and system boundary

— Data sources, assumptions and exclusions

— Notes on data quality and uncertainties

— Description of product or product system

— Lifecycle stages included

— Impact categories and key influencing factors

— Classification for the next decision

If required, we align the study with the principles of life cycle assessment in accordance with ISO 14040 and ISO 14044.

FOR WHOM

For whom the life cycle assessment is suitable

For whom the life cycle assessment is suitable

For Product Development

When material, design, or packaging should not be evaluated based on just a single metric.

For product managers

When a decision needs to be prepared traceably across the entire product system.

For companies with PCF

If the climate impact is already available as a first step, but further perspectives are important for the decision.

For complex comparisons

When use, lifespan or end-of-life can significantly influence the result.

CLEARLY CLASSIFIED

What the result says – and what it does not

What the result says – and what it does not

A life cycle assessment is not a seal of quality or a generalised statement that a product is environmentally friendly or "better".

Your results are only reliable in connection with the formulation of the question, reference value, system boundary, database and impact logic. They do not replace an independent verification or legal assessment of environmental claims.

A PCF shows the climate impact of a product. A life cycle assessment shows what you might miss if you only look at that.

UNDERSTAND THE CONSEQUENCES FIRST.

First understand the consequences. Then decide.

First understand the consequences. Then decide.

Together, we will look at your product query, the appropriate scope of analysis, and the data that is already available. Afterwards, you will know how a life cycle assessment can be sensibly structured for you.
