PRODUCT CARBON FOOTPRINT

A product value only becomes useful once it is clear what it describes.

A product value only becomes useful once it is clear what it describes.

One material. One recipe. Purchased components. Production, scrap, packaging and transport. For many products, the relevant emissions do not arise at a single point.

A Product Carbon Footprint brings this information together for a clearly defined product.

We calculate product-related emissions within a defined system boundary and document how the value is calculated.

YOUR ORDER

Your Order

You commission us to calculate a verifiable Product Carbon Footprint for an agreed product. To ensure that the value is understandable, we will jointly determine which product, which reference unit, and which life cycle phases it describes.

This can be useful, for example, if you want to answer a customer enquiry, prepare a tender, structure a product group, or make CO₂e data usable for variants and further product information.

A specific product, a product range or a product group

A customer or supply chain requirement

The basis for further variants, data sheets or communication

WHAT WE DO FOR YOU

What we do for you

What we do for you

01

Define the balance object and reference value

We clearly describe what the value refers to – for example, to a single piece, a kilogram, a defined unit, or a product variant.

02

Define system boundary

As a rule, we consider the journey of raw materials and pre-products up to the factory gate. Use and end-of-life are included if they are required for your purpose.

03

Gather product data in a targeted manner

We structure the required information on materials, components, energy, manufacturing, scrap, packaging and transport.

04

Calculate and document traceably

We calculate the CO₂e emissions, classify data sources and assumptions, and document limits as well as open points.

05

Make results translatable

We prepare the value in such a way that it remains usable for requests, variants, and subsequent updates.

OUR APPROACH

This is how we proceed

This is how we proceed

Understand the product and occasion

We clarify who needs the value for what purpose and which product definition makes sense for this.

Structuring data sources

We coordinate which information is already available, who knows about it, and where appropriate assumptions are being used.

Calculation and queries

We carry out the calculation, check plausibility, and clarify the points that significantly influence the result.

Result and Continuation

You will receive a documented value and a clear basis for how it can be updated in the future or transferred to variants.

WHAT YOU GET

What you get

What you get

A Product Carbon Footprint is more than a single figure. You will receive documentation that allows you to contextualise and further utilise the value.

— Description of the product and the reference quantity

— Defined system boundary and life cycle stages considered

— Calculated CO₂e emissions

— Data sources, factors and assumptions used

— Excluded areas and identifiable data gaps

— Methodology and version status for a later update

If the results are to be made available to customers, an information package containing a key factsheet, CO₂ data label, and tracking page can be based on this.

FOR WHOM

Who the Product Carbon Footprint is suitable for

Who the Product Carbon Footprint is suitable for

For Product Owners

If you need a reliable data basis for a product, a series or a variant.

For Sales and Customer Inquiries

When an inquiry should be answered not just with an estimate, but with an explainable value.

For Purchasing and Supply Chain

When the origin and quality of data from materials and preliminary products need to become traceable.

For companies with repeating needs

If the first PCF is not to remain a one-off project, but is to become the basis for further calculations.

CLEARLY CLASSIFIED

What the value says – and what it doesn't

What the value says – and what it doesn't

A Product Carbon Footprint is not a certificate, a seal of approval, or a statement that a product is "climate neutral" or generally environmentally friendly.

It is only comparable to another value if the reference value, system boundary, methodology and data basis match. The calculation itself does not reduce any emissions.

Voluntary support for climate projects is considered separately. It does not change and is not offset against a product carbon footprint.

We don't turn your CO₂ data into a seal of approval. We show what is behind it.

Together, we will look at your product, your occasion, and the data that is already available. After that, you will know how a Product Carbon Footprint can be sensibly structured for you.
