01 · WHY ENERGY IS PART OF IT

A forest does not grow independently of its environment.

For people to protect it, care for it and benefit from it in the long term, there is also a need for fundamentals that make everyday life easier: clean water, education, work – and reliable energy.

In many villages surrounding PROJECT TOGO, electricity is unavailable or only limitedly available. When the sun goes down, classes, meetings, and work often end earlier than necessary. Mobile phones have to be charged at distant power sources; community buildings remain dark in the evening.

Solar energy does not create some abstract idea of progress here. It enables very concrete things.

No investment without responsibility.

A solar power system is not a ready-made promise fulfilled upon installation. It must suit the specific location, the usage, and the people who will operate it in the long term.

Therefore, responsibilities, maintenance, user contributions, and subsequent battery replacement are taken into account from the very beginning. The systems do not replace a comprehensive power supply. They reliably improve the supply where it is particularly needed in everyday life.

Solar energy is not an end in itself for PROJECT TOGO.

Solar energy is not an end in itself for PROJECT TOGO.

It is a building block for education, communication, health and local work – and therefore also for a region in which natural forest can be permanently protected.

Companies can support the further development of PROJECT TOGO through direct project sponsorship.

The support is transparently documented and reported separately from corporate or product carbon footprints.

What you should know about the support.

Does solar energy replace the mains grid?

No. At selected locations, the systems close specific gaps and improve supply where it is particularly needed.

What is the energy used for?

For lighting, communication, water supply as well as individual work and study spaces – depending on the needs of the respective location.

Is a CO₂ quantity displayed?

No. This is direct project support. It is not an offsetting or compensation of emissions.
