WHY TRANSPARENCY MATTERS
The project starts with an everyday activity: cooking with charcoal. Improved cookstoves are designed to require less fuel compared to the baseline technologies used. The resulting calculated emission reductions are monitored, verified, and issued in the registry according to the rules of the standard applied.
A registry entry does not replace a declaration of performance. But it makes its basis verifiable.

02 · WHAT HAPPENS IN THE PROJECT
Less charcoal for the same cooking task
According to the project description, several models of improved cookstoves are being distributed in Uganda. They are designed to use the heat generated more efficiently than the baseline stoves.

Portable, non-electric cooking stoves for household and commercial applications replace or supplement less efficient cooking stoves.

The register entry describes the cooperation with local manufacturers as well as investments in production, technical support and quality.

Usage
For accounting purposes, the number of distributed stoves is not the only relevant factor. Crucial elements include actual usage, performance, and fuel requirements.

The methodology determines which cooking technology and fuel consumption are assumed in the absence of the project activity.

Calculate difference
The greenhouse gas reduction eligible under the methodology is determined from the reference and project scenarios.

Monitoring reports are verified. Subsequently, units can be issued for specific periods and vintages.
