WHY THE COMPARISON MATTERS
Electricity is measured. The difference to the grid without the project is calculated.
A photovoltaic system does not measure avoided tonnes of CO₂. It measures generated and fed-in electricity.
For the carbon footprint, this net feed-in is linked to an emission factor of the connected electricity system determined in accordance with ACM0002. Only the documented comparison with the baseline scenario yields an emission reduction for a clearly defined monitoring period.

Why the estimate and issuance are not the same: 138,385 t CO₂e is the expected annual value stated in the registry. The 69,330 VERs issued are based on the shorter, independently verified first monitoring period. For a concrete allocation, it is the serial numbers actually issued that count – not the annual estimate.
02 · WHAT THE PROJECT PROVIDES FOR
Two plants, one grid connection, one shared project balance sheet
Cumayasa 1 and 2 are described separately from a technical perspective, but are accounted for together in the Gold Standard registry. The decisive factor is the amount of energy quantifiably fed into the electricity grid.

Generate solar power
Both photovoltaic systems convert solar energy into electricity. The installed capacity describes the system capacity – not automatically the generation of an individual period.

Feed-in together
The electricity enters the national interconnected system of the Dominican Republic via the 138 kV connection and the Cumayasa substation.

Check operating data
Meter and SCADA data document the feed-in. Monitoring reports assign them to a period; an independent auditing body evaluates the data and calculation.
03 · HOW A UNIT IS CREATED
Grid feed-in is converted into a calculated emission reduction.
ACM0002 defines how grid-connected renewable electricity generation is accounted for against a baseline of the connected electricity system.

Set baseline
The reference scenario describes how the electricity in the national grid would have been provided without the two solar parks.

Measure net feed-in
The actual amount of electricity delivered to the grid during the monitoring period is recorded via measuring and SCADA systems.

Apply emission factor
The net feed-in is linked to the methodologically determined emission factor of the connected electricity system. Relevant project and leakage emissions are taken into account.

Verify and issue
Following independent audit, VERs with vintage and serial numbers can be issued in the registry. A subsequent retirement documents their specific use.
