What the monitoring value shows: 1,361,528 t CO₂e refers to the period 01/08/2022–31/12/2022. The value is neither an annual emission reduction nor a current update after the end of the crediting period.
What the end of the crediting period means: The registry entry specifies 31/12/2022 as the end date of Term 1. The technical operation of a hydroelectric power plant and the issuance of new VCUs are separate matters. The 'Registered' status alone does not imply ongoing crediting after this date.
Why estimation, issuance, and retirement are not the same thing: 3,541,917 t CO₂e is the annual expected value stated in the registry. Issued VCUs are based on completed procedures. Active and retired units describe registry statuses – they do not yet imply a specific corporate allocation.

Using river water, feeding electricity into the grid and documenting the generation
When it comes to the carbon footprint, installed capacity is not the only thing that matters. The decisive factor is the amount of electricity generated within a specified period and fed into the interconnected grid system at the defined metering point.

Using height difference and runoff
The project documents describe a run-of-river power plant on the Sutlej with an underground powerhouse. The installed capacity of 1,045 MW does not yet constitute an emission reduction.

Feed electricity into the grid
The electricity generated is fed into the Indian power grid. This does not mean that specific households, products or companies are directly supplied with this electricity.

A hydroelectric power plant is long-term energy infrastructure. However, statements on security of supply, employment or regional development still require their own indicators.

Consider river usage separately
Hydroelectric power does not require fossil fuels for its operation. Impacts on discharge, aquatic ecology, land use, and habitats must be assessed separately.
FOR COMMUNICATION
A link to renewable energy or the Sustainable Development Goals is not a comprehensive sustainability credential. What matters is which specific statement is supported by which indicator, which source, and over which time period.
