WHY FEED-IN MATTERS

The electricity is measurable. The avoided emission is calculated.

The electricity meter records electricity. It does not measure avoided tonnes of CO₂.

The status "Gold Standard Certified Project" and subsequent retirements do not automatically prove new creditable reductions. For context: 241,701 t CO₂e relate to the period 01/11/2021–31/12/2023 and do not represent an annual value; issuance and retirement are different processes.

02 · WHAT THE PROJECT PROVIDES FOR

Harness wind energy, feed electricity into the grid and document the generation

For the carbon footprint, it is not only the nominal capacity of the plants that counts. The decisive factor is the amount of electricity generated within a specified period and fed into the Thai grid at the defined metering point.

Converting wind into electricity

45 turbines, each with 2.3 MW, result in 103.5 MW of installed capacity. This technical capacity does not yet represent generated electricity or an emissions reduction.

Feed electricity into the grid

The electricity generated is fed into the Thai grid. It does not follow that specific households, products or companies are directly supplied with this electricity.

Document creation

Main and backup metering, grid feed-in records and independent audits form the data chain for quantification. The documents specify metering equipment with an accuracy of at most ±0.2%.

Set baseline

The reference scenario describes how the corresponding amount of electricity would have been provided in the Thai electricity system without the project.

The eligible amount of electricity is linked to the methodologically determined emission factor of the electricity system. Relevant project and leakage emissions are taken into account.

Verify and issue

Following independent audit, VERs with vintage and serial numbers can be issued in the registry. A subsequent retirement documents their specific use.

The register identifies four certified SDG references. This designation is not a generalised promise of impact: specific statements require an indicator, source, and period in each case.

The project documents state a technical design life of 20 years for the plants and a project duration of 23 years. These are planning specifications, not a guarantee of actual operation or impact.

During operation, wind energy does not require any fossil fuel. Impacts on land use, landscape, noise, biodiversity and local communities must be examined separately.
